Scheme of corn diets with addition of corn to 50%

Corn is one of the most popular components in diet. It has high nutrient value, contains digestible carbohydrates and fats, possesses good taste. Digestibility of organic nutritious of corn is high and reaches 90% that is why it can be added to the diets of all age and physiological groups without exception.

Among the disadvantages there are protein low content and its insufficient biological value (it is short of Lysine and tryptophane), therefore, a diet with corn shall obligatory contain high-protein constituent elements.

Corn is lack of vitamins and mineral substances, especially of calcium.

Among the vitamin group the least amount of Vitamin B5 is contained in the seeds of this cereal, which long-term lack causes hypovitaminosis or erythema endemicum, a devastating disease accompanied by metabolic disorder, dermhelminthiasis, the digestive tract and nervous system disorder. This pathology will occur, if in a diet there is over 75% of corn seeds, for this reason, it is very important in corn diet to comply with correct balance of biologically active substances and vitamins and minor elements.

A large number of corn in diet (over 50%), in particular, with high content of fat in form of the unsaturated acids – linoleic and linolenic can lead to the deterioration of the carcasses’ commercial quality. They will have a lot of fats, but bacon will not have the required consistence (it will be soft, having no grainy texture) with poor tastiness.
