The correct feed composition for rabbits
Regardless of the manufacture recipe, all components of combined fodders for rabbits should be shredded, as in the products of brand «Feed&Life».
Without fail, the combined fodders composition for rabbits must include:
- fiber;
- vitamins and minerals;
- amino acids.
As an addition to these three components, ingredients with a high protein content can be used:
- soybean schroth;
- sunflower meal;
- bone or vitamin-grass meal;
- yeast.
Volumes of feed consumption for rabbits
First of all, the combined fodders norm for rabbits per day depends on the age, sex and life period of animals.
To young rabbits it is enough to give 100-140 grams of fodder per day. An adult rabbit or a female rabbit in offspring anticipation should receive 170 g of feed in the same time. During mating period the feed volume should be increased to 210 grams. And the norms feed for rabbits in the case of feeding offspring are 400-600 g.
Also, the feed consumption norms are influenced by the purpose for which the rabbit is raised: for fattening or for skins. In the first case young animals require 100-140 g of combined fodder per day, in the second - 140-170 g.
Feeding mode for rabbits
For rabbits, especially young animals, feeding mode disorders and feed changing are highly undesirable. In addition, a constant feeding regime for rabbits is more important than the amount of daily feed intake.
Usually a two-phase method of feeding is used, in which in the morning the rabbit receives half a daily portion of combined fodder, in the daytime - fresh grass or hay, in the evening - the remaining half of combined fodder. It is important to take care of the timely supply of water, to the lack of which the rabbits are very sensitive.
